A pair of plastic recycling companies in Marion County, Ind., each are receiving state grant money to expand operations.

Green Plus Plastics LLC and Plastic Recycling Inc. each are getting $150,000 from the Recycling Market Development Program administered by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.

Green Plus Plastics is using its grant money as part of an $800,000 project to expand operations to recycle plastic films and bottles into pellets, the state said.

New equipment will include a grinder, wash line, dryer, extruders, conveyors and storage bins, the state said. This will allow the company to process dirtier materials such as agricultural films and films from retailers and trash haulers.

Plastic Recycling is using is money as part of a $664,334 system to recycle plastic waste from presort facilities and industrial sources, the state said. Equipment includes a pelletizing extrusion line, melt filter and water ring pelletizer.

Plastic Recycling expects to hire 10 new employees and Green Plus Plastics expects to hire seven new workers, the state said.
